Greggs style steak bake

  • Author: Pip Payne
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 1 1x

A convincingly delcious and syn-free version of the famous Gregg’s steak bake!

Healthy extra: B

  • 1 Kingsmill wholemeal sandwich thin
  • 1 tin M&S chunky steak (400g) (if using another brand, check the syns)
  • 1 onion finely diced
  • 1 carrot (very finely chopped)
  • 1 egg (beaten)

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180c. Stir-fry the onion and carrot until the onion is soft- 5-10 minutes
  2. Add the stewed steak and simmer mixture gently for about 10 minutes breaking up the meat
  3. Spray your baking tray with Frylight and then use about 1/6 of the steak mixture to put into the middle of one half of the sandwich thin, brush around the edge with egg, and put the top half on, pressing down the edges gently to stick them together.
  4. Brush to top of the bake with egg using a pastry brush.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

If you want to use up all of the steak mixture then make 6 of these, bake them and freeze them for another time. Alternatively you can freeze the steak mixture in portions.

Make your own beef casserole for the filling if you have time!
