Ham and split pea soup
My Mum used to make this for me when I was little, it’s so simple but tasty, filling and satisfying
approx unsmoked gammon joint, cut into chunks
yellow split peas
These need to be soaked overnight in preparation
salt and pepper
Place the chopped onion, carrot, ham, split peas and stock into the slow cooker bowl. Season.
Cook on high for 6-8 hours, or low for 10-12 hours
I like the soup to have a thick consistency, but if you prefer it thinner you can always dilute with more water.
