Chicken kiev

If you use the Dairylea triangles in this recipe as part of your Healthy Extra A then these tasty kievs are only 2.5 syns. Rice Krispies provide a super-quick and easy crispy coating.

The 1 syn jam doughnut

This has to be one of the best ways to use your Healthy Extra B bread- the only syns in this are in the jam, and you really don't need a lot! This is the perfect way to stave off a sweet craving, or give yourself a guilt-free treat. if you use the bread from your Healthy Extra B allowance they are only 1 syn each, or if you have already used your Healthy Extras for the day they are still only 4 syns each! Even if you aren't following Slimming World these are a great way to have a treat ...

Pastry-free pork pie

Picnics can be difficult when you are trying to follow a healthy eating plan- sausage rolls and pork pies are off the menu! This twist on a pork pie is the answer, easy to transport, easy to eat and nice and filling without all the fattening pastry! Instead, courgettes are used as a 'case'. The syns it contains are also only in the brown bread, so you can always count it as your Healthy extra b and then it's completely syn free.

Slow cooker campfire stew

When you don't have much time on your hands for prep but want to cook something that feels a bit special, this is a great recipe. Using mainly storecupboard staples, the slow cooker gently cooks the ham into fall-apart tenderness, and the paprika turns the beans into smoky, cowboy-worthy yumminess! The other great thing about this is not only is it a great dinner, it's also fab on top of a jacket potato the next day! If you don't want to use bought baked beans then try my version using ...

Roast chicken breast with lemony bombay potatoes

This is one of those dishes which tastes so good for not a lot of effort! It's quick to do and uses nice basic ingredients that you are likely to have in the cupboards. The syns are in the little bit of olive oil that everything is tossed around in, and you can remove this if you wish and spray with Frylight to make it syn free.

Chicken, butternut squash and borlotti beans

This is one of my favourite meals to cook when we have company, it's incredibly easy to make a vast quantity of it, it doesn't involve a lot of work, and it's really tasty! If you aren't using canned borlotti beans then you will need to soak the beans overnight, but as you also need to marinade the chicken overnight this isn't a big hassle. Most of the flavour's in the marinade so there's not too much work the next day! The original recipe suggests pumpkin, which is fab, but I have substi...

Tasty spaghetti bolognese

Spaghetti bolognese has always been one of my all-time favourites, and is a fab meal to sneak in a load of veg without really knowing about it when you eat it! For this one I add grated sweet potato and carrot to give it that extra sweetness which makes it popular with the kids as well as me!

Hasselback potatoes with cheesy garlic mushrooms

If you haven't discovered hasselback potatoes yet then it's time to get slicing! Thinly slicing your jacket potatoes all the way along before baking creates a beautifully crispy and unique potato! There are all sorts of possibilities for sliding tasty things into these, but you can't get much better than these cheesy garlic mushrooms- this is one of those dishes where you feel like you are eating something indulgent, but you are completely sticking to plan and making a lovely healthy ...

Banana sushi

Sometimes you just need something a bit different, and I think this banana sushi is a sweet idea to make yourself a plate of something pretty! You could either use the Weight Watchers Love Fibre wraps, white and wholemeal, or you could use a slice of brown bread rolld flat with a rolling pin. There's a lot of scope for using lots of superfree fruit to make up a very pretty plate of food!
