Ever wondered what a ‘dump dinner’ is? It refers to a meal made in a slow-cooker or instant pot where you literally just ‘dump’ in the prepped ingredients and leave them to cook. These are perfect for busy weeknights where you have no time for cooking, or I often make them at a weekend so I can put them on in the morning, head out for the day, and come back to a meal that is ready to eat.
Don’t have a slow-cooker? Mine was a present from my Grandma in 2001! The good news is they are great value to buy, Amazon has a fantastic selection, if I were buying a new one I’d probably go for something along the lines of this one (affiliate link):
It’s great to have a few of these recipes up your sleeve for those busy times- you can make it even easier by using pre-prepped frozen veg, or by bulk prepping the ingredients and freezing them to use as and when you need them.
Here are some of my favourites!
1. Amazing 5 ingredient salsa chicken This is a tasty Mexican-style dish that is full of flavour, and it couldn’t be easier to make! Perfect served with rice, cauliflower rice, over baked sweet potatoes or in a wrap or tortilla boat
2. Slow -cooker Chinese pulled pork This one’s a winner with the whole family- it’s rich, dark and tasty and a really verstaile meat dish- serve in lettuce wraps, alongside rice or just with crunchy chopped peppers, beansprouts and spring onions!
3. Campfire stew: Smoky and satisfying bean and ham stew- the perfect comfort food that can feed everyone in the family!
5. Slow-cooker pork and apple stew: Simple and tasty, a little like pork in cider- perfect comfort food!
