A sneak preview of Iceland Food’s Autumn range
Iceland food has crept back into my consciousness over the past couple of years, from their release of the hugely popular Slimming World range of meals, from winning the Which? accolade of best online supermarket shopping experience. So I was intrigued to be invited to a showcase of Iceland's Autumn food range- especially when I saw a menu which looked like it was from a top restaurant! This was designed by Iceland's own amazing chef Neil Nugent, and was a true taste of what can be achieved ...
Riverford Quick and Light recipe box review
My family was an early adopter of the Riverford veg box- my Mum started buying them back in the early 90's! I left Devon when I was 18, and then only moved back in my 30's, but feel so lucky to be back here with Riverford on my doorstep.
We've had some amazing meals over at the Riverford Field Kitchen near Totnes, so much so that I always recommend it to visitors! I love meat, but at Riverford it's all about doing amazingly tasty things with veg, and maybe supplementing the veg with a lovely ...
Goodlife vegetarian frozen range
I've never really been one for convenience food, and then when it gets to an evening when I really can't face cooking I kick myself as I have nothing to fall back on and have to still cook from scratch!
When Goodlife contacted me asking if I would like to try their vegetarian frozen range I decided to give it a go- I thought if we liked it it would be perfect for us and the kids as the whole range is stuffed full of good stuff and we are often thinking that we should try to have a few more ...
Comptoir Libanais Exeter- fresh, healthy Lebanese food
I was super- excited when my friend Tilly (who blogs at Mummy Rules) told me that we had been invited to dine at Comptoir Libanais in Exeter. The prospect of a evening out (aptly named a 'Mum-date' by Tilly!), having a good gossip, and some great food and wine couldn't have been more appealing. I was intrigued by the menu at Comptoir Libanais having only quite recently discovered Middle-Eastern food- it's my current favourite cuisine! (You may have seen my pre-Christmas Persian dinner ...

3. Fry mushroom for 4 minutes, add crushed garlic, and stir fry for 30 seconds
4. Mix together eggs, cheese and milk and season
A Slimming World Christmas, and a sneak peek into Head Office!
I was really excited a few weeks ago to be invited up to a Slimming World bloggers' Christmas lunch, not only to meet the PR team who have sent me some lovely surprises in the post over the past year, but to have a look around the Head Office and meet some others who spend a lot of their time writing about and photographing Slimming World friendly meals! So I headed up to Derby with nervous excitement a couple of weeks ago! Being Devon-based, it's a long journey for me, but actually ...
A River Cottage Christmas Feast
You might be able to tell, from my rather large stack of cookery books, that I am a bit of a fan of River Cottage!
My husband and I have always watched Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's television programmes- it's not only the lovely and inspiring recipes- but the comfort factor of the farmhouse and the rolling Devon countryside. When we first became hooked we were living in London, and it felt like a little glimpse of home for me, having grown up in Devon.
We have also recently bought ...
A day at Exeter Cookery School
A few weeks ago I was so thrilled to be invited to spend a day at Exeter Cookery School learning some vegetarian cookery! I have always loved to cook- the recipe book that I started in 1992, aged 11, is mainly full of chocolate based recipes, but as I grew up you can see more variety creeping in- including my curry phase and a newly discovered love of peanut butter in about 1995!
I learnt from my Mum who used to have my brother and I cook a meal each for the whole family at least every ...
How to make perfect syn-free roast potatoes
One of the joys of Slimming World is that you can still enjoy a good roast! In fact, it's a perfect Slimming World meal! Roasting the meat drains away the fat, it's easy to fill up your plate with 1/3 speed foods, there's a syn-free gravy recipe here: (click here to see syn-free gravy recipe) and here is my method for making perfect syn-free roast potatoes every time (and I think they taste even better than fat covered ones!):
1. Peel potatoes (I usually use maris piper)
